Ingredients

  • 4 ripe grapefruits, preferably seedless
  • 1–2 tsp honey or agave syrup to taste
  • A pinch of sea salt optional but recommended for enhancing flavors

Method

Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients
  1. Pull together your grapefruits, honey or agave syrup, and sea salt. It’s best to use grapefruits that are firm and heavy, as they generally yield more juice.
Step 2: Cut the Grapefruits
  1. Slice each grapefruit in half. Use a sharp knife to ensure clean cuts. You need to access the good stuff inside!
Step 3: Juice the Grapefruits
  1. Using a juicer—either manual or electric—squeeze each half until all the juice runs into your container. If you’re using a manual juicer, make sure to twist and press to get every last drop.
Step 4: Sweeten (Optional)
  1. Taste the juice. If it’s too tangy for your liking, add honey or agave syrup and stir until dissolved. The sweetness will balance the tartness beautifully.
Step 5: Add Sea Salt
  1. Add that pinch of sea salt. It may sound odd, but just a little bit enhances the flavors of the fruit. Stir well.
Step 6: Serve
  1. Pour the juice into a glass. You can serve it over ice or enjoy it straight up.

Notes

  • Choose Ripe Grapefruits: Look for grapefruits with smooth skin and a slight give when you press them. They should feel heavy for their size.
  • Chill Before Juicing: Cold grapefruits yield better juice and taste fresher. Put them in the fridge for a bit before cutting.
  • Avoid Seeds: If you end up with seeds in your juice, strain it through a fine mesh sieve for a smooth drink.
  • Experiment with Mix-Ins: Feel free to try other citrus like oranges or lemons for a mixed juice experience.
  • Store Leftover Juice Wisely: If you have extra juice, keep it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Shake well before drinking.
