No more tears onion chopping 101

Here are a few tricks I have used when it comes to chopping that crazy tear making thing they call an onion.  Try them out next time you have to cut one up and see for yourself.  Also if you have any tips of your own please feel free to add them.

Tip 1:

Cut off the ends of the onion then immediately put under cold running water.  Chop.

Tip 2:

Strange but true it does work!

Put your cutting board on the front element of your stove and turn on the back element, making sure not to burn your cutting board.  Chop up the onions and no tears whatsoever!  The heat burns the gases which would make your eyes burn.

Tip 3:

Do not cut off the root end of the onion but cut off the other end and pull back the onion skin.  Most of the sulfuric acid which makes your eyes teary are in that end.
